The Għarb football pitch was extended to FIFA standards and rebuilt with a new sub-base fitted with a new turfed surface. The project also included floodlighting and stormwater collection. A jogging track around the periphery completes the project. This football pitch and track forms part of a public recreation, education and sports complex.
This project underscores the commitment to create versatile, high-quality sport facilities that cater to a range of athletic activities and community needs. The existing football pitch is a key venue for local sports and community events and therefore required expanding the pitch and adding an athletic track surrounding the pitch to accommodate other types of sport and recreational activities including running, walking and athletic training makes it a versatile addition for both serious athletes and casual users.
The extension provides more space for training and the upgrading of the playing surface with high-quality, durable turf that is designed to withstand intensive use. A modern lighting system was implemented to ensure the pitch and track can be used during evening hours. This extends the usability of the facilities, allowing for a flexible schedule of training sessions and events. This project has greatly enhanced the local sports infrastructure by providing a prime venue for numerous athletic activities. These improvements support athlete development and promote healthy lifestyles.
