Gozo - a gem in the heart of the Mediterranean

Gozo Image

This small island of just 67 square kilometres has aptly been referred to as an island of villages. The winding streets of the urban conservation areas of each village are generally delineated by characteristic town houses and vernacular dwellings built with the local globigerina limestone. The landscape of each village is dominated by the parish church also erected with the same limestone. The central village squares or piazzas are the social meeting place, complemented by the playgrounds and sports grounds which together with various rural parks provide the social green lungs of the communities.

A legacy for Gozo

Gozo Image

Our projects have shaped various open spaces and buildings within the past two decades in Gozo. These works have transformed public piazzas, sports facilities, areas of public recreation into social meeting places contributing to the quality of life in the island. They have also conserved various buildings for future generation, taking great care to preserve the unique patina and hues of the island’s synonymous Globigerina limestone. We have also strived to create new buildings and dwellings which respect their context and rehabilitated abandoned vernacular buildings into new living, working and educational places. Our work is driven by our sense of belonging to the island, while respecting its natural and built heritage.
