Nadur Parish Community Centre
Public Buildings

Location
Nadur

The Nadur Parish Community Centre was developed within a site the work on which started over 50 years ago and was stalled for decades for legal reasons. When the project continued just a few years ago, the parish requirements and the social needs of the community had changed completely. Aesthetic canons governing such a site in an Urban Conservation Area just opposite the parish church had also evolved. Therefore the decision was taken to house a number of different uses within the same building, with all uses serving the requirements of the parish and the community, and a design which had commenced as a modernist building opposite the parish church was transformed into a community centre with a mostly symmetrical design based on UCA design parameters. This building houses the parish offices, the youth centre - also serving as a small conference centre, the community radio studios and the parish museum.
